Omar McMillan – Director

Coach McMillan is a graduate of the University of St. Thomas (MA), College of St. Scholastica (BA) and Bethany Lutheran College-Mankato(AA). He has been coaching for 26 years. During the course of these 26 years, he has coached both girls and boys at the youth, high school and collegiate levels. As a player, Omar was a McDonald’s All-American nominee and starter for Milwaukee Washington- 1993 WIAA State Champions.

As a coach, Omar served as an assistant coach for the Minneapolis Community Technical College Women’s Basketball Program as they won 2 state championships (01-02 and 02-03) and the 2002-03 NJCAA National Championship. Omar has coached his Richfield High School Varsity Boys Program to back-to-back sectional championships. (19-20; 20-21). In ‘19-’20, he was named the AAA State Coach of the Year after 23-6 season with the Spartans. Omar also carries two honorable positions in the MN coach associations as the President of the MBCA and the Vice-President of the MBBCA.

He has been teaching for 21 years and is presently a 5th grade teacher in the Richfield Public Schools District. In 2020, Omar celebrated the honor of being one of the 10 Finalists for Minnesota Teacher of the Year. Omar is a family man more than anything else. He is husband to RHS Hall of Famer Laurie Palmer McMillan and father to 4 beautiful daughters Katy Stark(22), Anna Stark(21), Molly Stark(18) and Alexa McMillan(17).
